Million Dollar Thought!
My Question?
How come everyone has a God?
I don’t know a single race of Mankind who don’t have some God or the other. What kind of a conspiracy is this? I mean, those days, there were no means of transport or communication between the east and west and yet east have a God and so have the West. How did word spread that everybody had to have a god. Some religions were too enthusiastic enough to have reached the heartlands of Africa or the deserts or Amazonian jungles to preach about their god, but even before their arrival they had their Gods. And How come almost All Gods look like Men, well Human? See! My first belief, men created God. If god created all the Living things, why did they take the form of only Humans? Does God appear as Animals to the Animals. Or is that God liked His/Her creation so much so that he reinvented himself (him could be her as well). Or is it true that God incarnated as Men just to have Sex. Because something so beautiful as Sex could only be had as humans, only? (BTW Animals only procreate)
My VCD/DVD buying spree continues. Bought yesterday VCDs of The Mission, The bridges of Madison County, Roman Holiday and Masoom(hindi film). I have never owned so many movie titles ,like I do now.

On God,
I have long since believed that men Created God and not vice versa. Not that I don’t pray in times of sorrow and even joy. It makes me feels good to believe in something mankind has yet an answer. We seem to unraveled many a mystery. It won’t be long before we unravel this mystery too but as long as it is a mystery, let me pray when I am in doubt to give me a clear mind.My Question?

God is the easiest answer to all the unanswered questions. And humans anywhere cannot comprehend all the happenings around them. Therefore God.
I too own a Roman Holiday VCD. Liked the movie. So did many of out desi fimmakers.

Well, we will never know about animals and their Gods will we? Research tells us only what we want to hear ;)
So maybe animals do pray, and maybe they do enjoy 'love-making' too :D
Dolphins...dolphins don't just procreate, they also have sex for recreation. Only living thing other than man to do so.
@ Soumyadip. Will watch it today, and hey buy a dvd player or a ROM, DVDs come pretty cheap shhh!!! And yes, God is the answer to all things unaswered i had a long God Post earlier, muist be hidden in the archives of my previous blog.

Some animals do pray, i have seen in Hindi Movies LOL. Seen those elephant breaking coconuts scene and ringing the bells and Monkeys crying

I don't agree that all the forms of God are human.... in Hindu mythology we have Vaanars- like Hanuman, Narsimha - the lion God and also Sheshnaag... they are all worshipped....
lol Anks.. I said "Almost" all Gods, I used the word Almost after much thought. I was going to write "most of the Gods". And even Shree Hanuman and narshimha had more Humanly features.
I read this excerpt in THE HINDU from Amartya Sen's Argumentative Indian,where he states that Discourse should involve scepticism and not lean on r eligious overtones.It was however,stated in a different context .
But the same newspaper, has a section, "Religion", which talks about religious discourses and talks, and clearly mentions that the notion of GOD should be used as a support when the world walks out on you. In the same line of thinking, you can include prayers, meditation or visiting the church or the temple.
I go for Yoga,(i must admit that I'm quite irregular when it comes to practising it)and in some odd way, it has helped me answer some questions of my own. You will also find that people turn to the concept of God and spirituality when they have run out of options.

The Mission is a lovely movie, a personal favorite. If you like comedies try "A weekend at Bernies".
Roots is a brilliant book, a personal favorite.
As regards God, well the forms might be given as 'human' by the human beings themselves (In that context, Hinduism is more encompassing.) , but certainly there is some power that runs the system.
Science can explain the universe, the system ...but then why and how everyhting fell into place definitely has some higher being.
Incidentally, even in Hinduism, there is a sect of Arya Samaj that does not give 'any form' to God. It denounces idol version.
Here is a link to a previous post of mine, surprisingly we think in a very similar way and of course, there has to have a Super natural being who made everything in order. Just because Science says there is no God doesn't mean we must believe it. Science you see might be able answer it sometime though..
