Who is to blame?

She smoked heroin for two months, and she is just 11.

Heroine, though not the most preferred choice of drugs is a very potent addictive. And, the purest form of Heroine commonly known as no. 4 short for No. 4 grade heroine is produced in the Golden Triangle of Thailand, Combodia and Laos. Unfortunately, the north-east has become a major transit route of the same.

The widespread of HIV/AIDS infection in the NE can be attributed to the proximity of the golden triangle to the North east. Worse than Aids is the clichéd that the other problems of the NE are.

The north east being a major drug and small arms trafficking route, it is obvious that many people are invloved in the same. And it is common knowledge that people in high places are involved in the same, without whose contacts the smuggling wouldn't be possible at all and of course, there have been news of smuggling in Official vehicles. And of relatives of high officials getting caught.

Perhaps there is a huge nexus underneath. Perhaps all the problems that we face is just an excuse, a cover, a smoke screen. Money, after all smells good even in the stink.

Hi Anthony,

I had always wanted to ask this of someone from the NE.

Is the NE full of Christian missionairies ? And do decietful conversions take place ? What is the power structure like in Manipur Tripura etc ? Have Hindus (& Hindu culture) there become 2nd class citizens ?

Thanks,
Sonali

Heroin is evil - pure evil. And then there is the assortment of other drugs. Peer pressure makes drugs look cool. But they aren't. They kill. They destroy.

@ Dwaipayan: Everybody wonders! But it is still beautiful..

@ Intern: Yes, drugs are indeed the worse evil to have touched mankind. Drug addict once addicted cannot do without it knowing the fcat that they are crawling towards Death.

@ Sonali: R u sonali of tbitz??
Yes NE is full of christian missionary though I am not so sure what Full would mean.
I am no aware of any decietful conversions though, coversion there are. But not to worry, very few hindus are being converted.

And no Hindus have not become second class citizen, not in Manipur or Assam nor anywhere else if it is what you mean. But of course, everybody in the NE have become second class citizens in our own homes. Guns being pointed at you, getting frisked randomly, innocnets being massacred, civilians getting manhandled. It doesn't matter if you are hindu or muslim or christian.

Power structure is the same as elsewhere. Only the most corrupt are in the top echelon, and further trickles down. Of course there is a parallel powwer called the militants, and the civilians are lowlifes. Hope I answered most if your questions

Soumyadip: I think beyond smoking, pot and drinks, the cool factor is not there in drugs,. they first try it, enjoy it nad then get addicted. If you have done Pot even once, it is extremely enjoyable that it scares you, SHIT."This is why people gets addicted" Same is with drugs. Easy to get hooked.
